Understanding Social Security

Date: Thursday, December 5, 2019
Time: 3:30pm - 5:00pm
Location: L.V. Eberhard Center, 301 Fulton West, Grand Rapids, MI 49504
Speaker: Vonda Vantil, Public Affairs Specialist, Social Security Administration

Ninety-four percent of today’s workers’ pay into the Social Security system. Another 2 million Michiganders receive it. In fact, Social Security puts $3 Billion Dollars into the Michigan economy EVERY Month. Understanding a government program as vast as Social Security is a tall order. Yet, we owe it to ourselves, and those we help, to do just that.

It is time to gain a better understanding of a program that has been the economic security of our nation’s people for nearly 85 years. This session will guide you through the various Social Security benefits that your clients may be eligible to receive. You will learn about the numerous online tools and resources available to help you and your clients navigate the system. You can count on this session being interactive, engaging and worth every minute of your time!

After 28 years at Social Security, Vonda has mastered the art of entertaining while teaching. She effectively uses humor to engage and entertain her audience while ensuring that all understand the information and retain it for later reference.

Vonda, a West Michigan native, is a graduate of Aquinas College with a dual major in business and communications. Public speaking, webinars, newspaper articles, and radio interviews are just a few of the ways she educates and informs the public about their Social Security benefits.
